The Trains
Modern Fleet, Uncompromising Safety
Nansi Rail uses South Africa’s rail infrastructure and the modern fleet of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) to power its unique tourism experiences. The company is committed to safe, reliable, and comfortable journeys, using PRASA’s investments in new trains and infrastructure upgrades.
Safety First, Always
Safety is a top priority. Nansi Rail operates within a safety framework aligned with PRASA’s security upgrades. These upgrades include surveillance, rapid response teams, and a dedicated security force. The trains operate on corridors with modern signalling systems to ensure a secure environment for all guests.
A Modern Fleet for a New Era
Nansi Rail uses new, locally manufactured electric multiple unit (EMU) trains, such as the X’Trapolis Mega (also known as “Isitimela Sabantu” or “The People’s Train”). These trains are designed for efficiency, comfort, and reliability. They feature air conditioning, surveillance cameras, and a design that only allows movement when doors are closed.
Punctuality and Enhanced Experience
Nansi Rail works with PRASA’s modernized operational framework to ensure timely departures and arrivals. Ongoing infrastructure upgrades, including new signalling systems and power supply rehabilitation, improve journey times and predictability.
A seamless experience begins before boarding. Nansi Rail operates “Station Welcome Lounge” at Cape Town station. These service points facilitate ticketing, provide information, and welcome guests with hospitality. The company is committed to making every part of the journey effortless.
