Nansi Rail Tours: Terms and Conditions

1. Booking and Registration

  • Check-in Requirement: All guests must register at the “Welcome Lounge” in Cape Town Station at least 30 minutes prior to departure. Failure to arrive on time may result in the guest being left behind to ensure the tour adheres to the rail schedule.
  • Group Size: Tours require a minimum of 2 participants and can accommodate a maximum of 30.
  • Private Tours: Tours designated as a “Private Tour” must be clearly indicated at the time of booking.

2. Rail Travel & PRASA Code of Conduct

By booking this tour, guests agree to comply with the PRASA Conditions of Carriage and the following strictly enforced train rules:

  • On-Board Prohibitions: There is a strict no eating, no drinking, no chewing gum, and no smoking policy inside all trains and on station platforms.
  • Noise & Disturbance: To ensure the comfort of all commuters, no singing, preaching, or gambling is permitted on board. Guests must use headphones for music or videos and keep phone conversations brief and quiet.
  • Safety Lines: Guests must always stand behind the yellow safety line on platforms until the train has come to a complete stop and doors have opened.
  • Doors & Movement: Do not lean against, block, or attempt to manually force the automatic train doors. The train will not move until all doors are securely closed.
  • Boarding Etiquette: Always allow arriving passengers to disembark fully before attempting to board the train.

3. Tour Conduct & Safety

  • Guide Instructions: Guests must follow all reasonable instructions provided by the registered local tourist guide for the duration of the tour.
  • Personal Property: Guests are responsible for their own belongings at all times. Nansi Rail Tours and PRASA are not liable for any loss or theft of personal items.
  • Health & Physical Ability: Guests choosing the Walking or Cycling options confirm they are in adequate physical health for the activity.

4. Liability and Indemnity

  • Third-Party Services: Nansi Rail Tours acts as a facilitator for rail transport and local experiences. We are not liable for delays, cancellations, or service disruptions caused by PRASA or other third-party suppliers.
  • Assumption of Risk: Participation in township walking or cycling tours involves inherent risks. Guests indemnify Nansi Rail Tours against any claims for injury, loss, or damage sustained during the tour.

5. Cancellation and Refunds

  • Rail Disruptions: In the event of significant rail delays or cancellations, Nansi Rail Tours will make every effort to provide alternative transport or reschedule the tour.
  • Guest Cancellation: Please refer to your booking confirmation for specific notice periods required for a full or partial refund.

6. Payment

  • Currency & Fees: All prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR).
  • Cash Requirement: While major cards are accepted for the tour booking, guests are advised to carry some cash for small purchases in Langa or Kalk Bay, as some local vendors do not have card facilities.
